We are Edd and Melissa Moseley.
I (Melissa) am from Michigan and Edd’s from England. We met in Spain 2010. After knowing Edd for two weeks, he charmed me into joining him in Mexico. We had only a few thousand dollars between us, but we planned to work and then travel onward to Central and South America.
We got jobs in Mérida, Yucatán. We lived next to a huge park, a beer shop, and street vendors selling poc-chuc sandwiches. We had a VW Beetle and the Caribbean was a couple of hours away. It was idyllic.
But we were broke (thank you student loan debt). It was a strain on our new relationship. There were fights and tears, and we left Mexico after one year.
We soon got married and taught English in Saudi Arabia and Oman. It took us about five years to save the money we needed to return to the Americas and finish what we started!
In the spring of 2016, Edd saw a great-looking camper van for sale on a B190 forum. It was only 20 minutes from my parents’ house in Michigan! That’s a sign you can’t ignore. We wired the money to my parents and they snatched it up.
We left Michigan in our camper on March 31, 2017.
More and more people are traveling through the Americas, for many different reasons. I hope that we can offer something to the RVing or road-tripping communites, especially others on a small budget, like us. But mostly this is an account of long-awaited journey. So here we go!
